BIOS

Lydia Svyatlovskaya - Violin

Lydia, a native of Leningrad, graduated from the Special Music School for Gifted Children in Leningrad and then entered the Moscow Conservatory. Among her teachers was the world renowned Professor Leonid Kogan. She has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras in Leningrad and Moscow and has recorded in Japan and Europe. She has also performed with distinguished orchestras such as the USSR State Symphony and Moscow Radio Symphony and has toured in more than twenty countries around the world. In 1976 Lydia was awarded Second Prize at the "Concertino Praga" competition, Czechoslovakia. Her solo appearances with the orchestras include Moscow Orchestra of Chamber Music, State Chamber Orchestra of the USSR in Russia, Symphony Orchestra of the Winnipeg Royal Ballet (Canada), Evergreen Chamber Orchestra (Colorado), as well as numerous solo and chamber music recitals in Europe and United States. Lydia participated in Bregenz Music Festival (Austria), Salzburg Music Festival (Austria), and Central City Opera House Summer Festival (from 2000 to 2005 as the Concertmaster). Lydia has worked with the Colorado Symphony and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra.

Vladimir Petrov - Violin

Vladimir was born in Krasnodar, south of Russia. He entered Gnessin Music Institute in Moscow and graduated with a Master of Music degree. He has performed with every significant orchestra in Moscow, including the USSR State Symphony, USSR State Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic, and then became Associate Principal Violin with the Moscow Radio Symphony. With this orchestra he toured all around the world concertizing in Japan, Germany, Korea, Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain, Greece, Canada, Switzerland, Holland and Austria. While in Moscow he taught at the Moscow Music School and now he brings his love of pedagogy to the Denver musical community. His students received scholarships and continue to work on their degrees in music in such renowned colleges as Moscow Conservatory (Russia), Boston Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Lamont School of Music, UNC (USA). Vladimir has performed with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Colorado Symphony.

The Moscow Violin Duo's appearances with the orchestras include Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Evergreen Chamber Orchestra (USA), Winnipeg Royal Ballet (Canada)- tour in Russia (J.S.Bach Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra), Moscow Radio Symphony, State Chamber Orchestra of the USSR, Moscow Orchestra of Chamber Music (Russia).

The Moscow Violin Duo played numerous recitals across Colorado, including recitals at The Louisa Performing Arts Center, Packard Hall (Colorado Springs), Lamont School of Music (Denver), as well as solo and chamber music recitals in Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia).

Their solo CD "Souvenir of Russia" was issued by Sonora Records (USA).

Lydia and Vladimir have worked with conductors such as E.Svetlanov, V.Fedoseev, Y.Temirkanov, G.Mark, G.Rozhdestvensky, L.L.Smith, M.Alsop, R.Barshai, with internationally renown musicians such as I.Oistrakh, S Richter, V.Tretiakov, V.Repin, J.Rakhlin, N.Solerno-Sonnenberg, P.Zukerman, I.Perlman, Yo-Yo-Ma, L.Harrell, L.Pavarotti, J.Careras

They have worked with recording companies such as Pony Canyon (Japan), Melodic (Russia), Musics (Austria), Sony Classical (Japan).

They have played concerts in such music halls as Lincoln Center (New York), Osaka Symphony Hall (Japan), Barbikan Hall (London), Musikferein (Vienna), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam).
